The new alliance consists of people, businesses and organizations that share a common goal.
On Thursday, about 70 people gathered to discuss a multi-pronged issue that effects everyone: food.
The York County Food Alliance held its first public meeting at the York Jewish Community Center. The recently formed alliance focuses on improving the local food system, and will address issues such as limited access to healthy food, sustainability and agriculture advocacy, among others.
The meeting highlighted six local programs that are working to better the food system, including YorKitchen, the Horn Farm Center, Unitarian Universalist Congregation Gardens and Spring Grove Area School District's Farm to School program.
